After years of delays and major hurdles in the form of studio disputes, director releases and multiple script rewrites, Flash the film is finally on track for release in 2022. The DCEU hasn’t had the best time lately, and DC fans are hoping it will finally bring the excitement and fervor of comics to the big screen. . Besides Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, there’s a bunch of big names on board, and they’re just part of the reason everyone is finally excited to talk about the next big DC movie.
Here’s everything we know about Flash so far, including when it releases in Australia.
DC Flash: Release date
Flash is currently configured to output the November 3, 2022 in Australia.
Stay tuned for updates, just like every other movie on the current release schedule.
The flash: To throw
Flash will be led by Ezra Miller like Barry Allen / The Flash, and he’s bringing some friends with the help of director Andy Muschietti and screenwriter Christina Hodson.
Newcomer Sasha calle will play the iconic hero Supergirl in the film, Michael keaton makes a crazy comeback as Batman and Ben affleck will be on board too play batman. (More on this shortly.)
They will be joined by Ron Livingston like Henry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Maribel Verdu like Nora Allen.
Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso and Luke Brandon Field were also reportedly performed in undisclosed roles.
So what’s the story?
It is surprising how little we know about Flash and where he will take our titular hero. When it was first announced, many thought it would be some sort of origin story, but appearances in Batman vs. Superman and Justice League have already made a hero of Barry Allen of the DCEU.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will follow Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he uses time travel to attempt to save his parents from a murder in the past. No further details are available, and it’s unclear where these pesky “multiverse” rumors came from – but it’s easy to speculate, given this description.
After all, nothing is ever easy when it comes to time travel.
East Flash a multiverse movie?
Multiverse films are in this year, and Flash is no exception.
In the wake of The Arrowverse, Spider-Man: No Path Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it seems Flash will feature its own DC multiverse, likely due to time interference from Barry Allen.
So far, we don’t know much about how this multiverse will unfold, but given that we’ve already confirmed appearances of two different versions of Batman (Affleck, Keaton) and one appearance of Supergirl, it’s likely that we will see a wild alternative universe wrapped in The flash.
When time travel is involved, things tend to get messy, so expect crazy things when Flash finally frees.
Or Flash integrates into the DCEU
The timeline of Flash is currently unknown, but it is likely that the film will continue the story depicted in Justice League. The plot here gets a bit confusing, because Justice League and Zack Snyder Justice League feature two different timelines, in which Barry Allen grows up in different ways.
In Zack Snyder Justice League (which is not technically a “cannon”), Barry is able to harness the mystical Speed Force (which gives him strength) and use it to reverse time and save the planet. In the original version of Justice League, that doesn’t happen – but Barry’s canon appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice implies that he Is know time travel – so we don’t know what powers this Barry Allen’s version will have.
DC and Warner Bros. have yet to strictly define the timelines in which the next DC movies take place, so it’s hard to say where exactly Flash agrees. Watch both films to be sure.
What you should watch before Flash
Barry Allen of Ezra Miller was first introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in a savage cameo appearance that really doesn’t make sense without the backdrop of Justice League and Zack Snyder Justice League.
It is actually better to watch Justice League first if you want to understand the modern DCEU timeline, but the ending sequence of Zack Snyder Justice League also provides the missing pieces to understand why The Flash appears in Batman vs. Superman.
This means that the “correct” order for looking at The Flash’s history is:
- Justice League
- Zack Snyder Justice League (new scenes and Knightmare sequence)
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
When you’re done with those, you can also check out the recent CW crossover. Crisis on Infinite Earths for a great little cameo where Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen meets Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen from Flash TV shows. It doesn’t have to be, but it’s a lot of fun.
Flash is currently scheduled for release on November 3, 2022. Stay tuned to Gizmodo Australia for more information on the next film as its release nears.
