Visit to the native plant garden

Take a virtual tour of 11 gardens to explore the trees, shrubs, perennials and wildflowers native to our region at jacksoncountymga.org/native-plants-garden-tour. Included are an eco-catering garden, a mini permaculture farm, a small urban garden and more. Free entry; donations to the Jackson County Master Gardeners Association will be accepted. Gypsy soul

Folk, soul and roots duo Cilette Swann and Roman Morykit will perform a special 30th anniversary live concert as part of their ongoing “Front Row with Gypsy Soul” series at 6pm on Saturday November 27th. A pre-show will start at 5:45 am with a special video retrospective. The duo will perform a mix of originals and covers during the hour / hour and a half show. The concert is available to stream live via Facebook, YouTube and Twitch, and on the Gypsy Soul website (gypsysoul.com). The show is a “pay what you want” basis. Once on the duo’s website, you’ll find a “virtual tip jar,” where you can use PayPal or a credit card to start the show. You don’t need to register unless you want to receive a reminder for the concert or if you want to participate in the chat / comments during the concert.

Southern Oregon Climate Action Now

The climate action group will hold a free general assembly at 6 p.m. on Tuesday November 30 via Zoom. Southern Oregon Climate Action Now Master Climate Protector graduates – Erin O’Kelley Muck, Cynthia Holm and Flavia Franco – will explain how they have worked to promote greenhouse gas reduction and other actions within the community . Windows in Time – local history conference

As part of the free “Windows in Time” lecture series, historian George Kramer will present “If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from National Register Properties in Southern Oregon” at noon on Wednesday, December 1 via Zoom . Kramer will explore the history and stories of some of southern Oregon’s most historic buildings and provide interesting and informative insight into the significance of these buildings. Kramer, advisor to the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Restore Oregon and current vice-president of the Oregon Cultural Trust, is the author of the four nominations for Historic Ashland, Historic Downtown Medford, and dozens other individual lists. in Jackson County, and it has assessed nearly 10,000 structures across Oregon for National Registry eligibility. Queer Cafe

Introduction to space exploration

North Medford High School and Southern Oregon Sky Watchers will host guest speaker George Sowers, professor of space resources at the Colorado School of Mines, who will give a presentation on space exploration at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, via Zoom. Sowers will speak about NASA’s “Moon to Mars program”, also known as “Mission Artemis to the Moon”. Sowers is an expert in developing ways to extract resources from the Moon to allow space ships to be resupplied for journeys to Mars; the great resource being water and how to safely exploit it on the moon. Brain Books Focus Group
