merge tactical time travel with strategic shooting – PlayStation.Blog

It’s almost time ! We look forward to welcoming PS5 and PS4 gamers to the loop next week when Lemnis Gate launches.

Lemnis Gate is the turn-based strategy FPS that manipulates time and rewards skill and intelligence. Your ability to get creative through creative thinking, along with your mastery of seven uniquely talented agents, each with their own weaponry, will make the difference between victory and defeat. This is how it works.

Time loop

Lemnis Gate pits players against each other in a 25 second time loop. The goal is simple: choose your agent, enter the loop, then execute your plan. It could mean killing an enemy, protecting a teammate, or destroying an objective. When these 25 seconds are up, the next loop begins. Essentially, each loop stacks up on the previous one. These progressive layers allow you to build ingenious strategies over five exciting rounds.

Each teammate you see on the map is you from a previous turn. This means that the animated matches of ten operators consist of only two players, populating the battlefield with past instances of themselves. Winning requires great forethought as you plan in four dimensions to create subversive and unorthodox strategies.

Ghost mode

So what happens when you die? At Lemnis Gate, death is not the end. Lose your health, whether from bullets, explosions, or any other damaging effect, and you will continue the round as a ghost. Now you take the actions you would take if you were alive. If the enemy who killed you dies, your previously eliminated agent is revived and the actions you performed as a ghost are carried out.

For example, let’s say you play as the chemical weapons expert Toxin. Place a trap of noxious sludge on the ground and die, and this slime will cease to exist. But if you kill the agent who killed Toxin, the slime will reappear, along with Toxin. Since the present can directly change the past, there are several moves you need to think about in the future. This means that you can always come back from a losing position.

Reconnaissance drone

After taking your turn, your opponent will take his. Now you will be monitoring the situation with your aerial drone as your opponent tries to counter your moves. Your drone not only helps you keep tabs on everything going on during the match, but also allows you to place strategy markers to highlight points of interest. See a vulnerable target that you want to eliminate in the next turn? Place a marker on it. The drone is there to inform your strategy as you survey the battlefield between turns.

Ways to play

There are a multitude of ways to play, both online and offline. Enter the time loop separately with turn-based rules, or enter together and fight in the same turn simultaneously in 1v1 and 2v2 games. For local gameplay, there is also a “pass the controller” option allowing players to strategize with each other in person. In these match types there are four familiar game modes including Seek & Destroy, Domination, Retrieve XM, and Deathmatch.

For those with a competitive streak, ranked play pits players against well-matched opponents, allowing them to rise through the ranks and claim a spot on the leaderboard for the ultimate bragging rights. While unranked matches offer players a chance to hone their tactical thinking and mastery of the game during friendly matches.

PS5 features

Lemnis Gate takes advantage of the innovative hardware of the PS5. Feel every action with unprecedented precision, from bullets hissing above your head to the visceral glide of your boots in the dirt. The bigger the impact, the more your DualSense responds, putting you right in the thick of the action with the PS5’s haptic feedback, which channels high-fidelity touch-sensitive audio right into the palms of your hands.

PS5 outputs up to 4K UHD with 60 FPS delivering stunning clarity and smooth gameplay. From lime-green lava oceans bubbling against black volcanic rock to frozen landscapes with towering ice shards and a biting blizzard, an immersive backdrop is invariably close at hand.

Plus, you can jump into the action faster with fast loading, because just like in Lemnis Gate, every second counts.

Lemnis Gate will launch on September 28 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
