Government prepares effective national science, technology and innovation policy 2022: Shibli
Science and Technology Minister Shibli Faraz said the government has prepared the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2022 for the socio-economic development of the country.
Speaking on Radio Pakistan on Tuesday, he said the policy would encourage import substitution and focus on boosting exports.
He said that our goal is to bring the country towards self-sufficiency for the economic sovereignty of the country.
Shibli Faraz said the country’s exports are expected to approach $ 100 billion between 2025 and 2028.
He said national science, technology and innovation policies had also been developed in the past but remained ineffective. He said that our policy has an action plan to ensure its implementation.
Shibli Faraz said that we have created synergies between relevant institutions for product development and innovation.
Responding to a question, the Minister of Science and Technology said that a national science exhibition was being held at the Pakistan-China Friendship Center from the 28th of this month to showcase innovative projects in the fields of science and of technology. He said the last date to book stands at the exhibition was January 15.
The Minister of Science and Technology said that the use of electronic voting machines will change our entire electoral landscape. He said EVMs will be used in the upcoming local elections in the federal capital. He said EVMs are a reality now and that they will help make the elections transparent.
