Eagles travel to Bakersfield and face Condors for the first time this season

The Colorado Eagles face the Bakersfield Condors tonight in the first of three California games this week. This is the first time the two teams have met this season, and the first of eight times the two teams will face each other in the 2021-22 campaign.

The two teams met three times last season. Colorado has won just one of those clashes by a score of 6-2. The last time the two teams met was on May 5, 2021, which saw the Condors win by a narrower 2-1 margin.

Colorado’s all-time record against Bakersfield is 11-7-0.

Forwards Jayson Megna, Martin Kaut and defenseman Jacob MacDonald are all currently recalled to the Avalanche.

Mikhail Maltsev was recently reassigned to the Eagles after traveling to Florida with the Avalanche to face the Panthers and Lightning. Maltsev has played three games for the Colorado Avalanche this season.

Last season, the Condors won the series 2-1. Colorado is 11-7-0-0 against the Condors since joining the AHL in 2018.

Bakersfield forward Ostap Safin has spent time in teams with Martin Kaut playing internationally for their native Czech Republic and with Justin Barron playing for the Halifax Moosehead. Bakersfield rookie Graham McPhee was a 2019-2020 assistant captain at Boston College where he played with Alex Newhook.
