GTA and Red Dead Redemption have expansive open-world maps filled with thoughtful detail. Red Dead Redemption 2 was particularly detailed, offering an assortment of supernatural references and easter eggs as well as unique encounters for players to discover as Arthur Morgan or John Marston. RDR2 this is also where most of the connections between red death and GTA were first discovered, Rockstar followed that up by including a number of RDR2 Easter eggs in GTA online. It’s unclear if these references and connections will lead to any substantial crossover in the future, but they at least hint that the two franchises share some continuity.

Dutch Van Der Linde’s pistol can be found in GTA Online

Gun GTA Online Red Dead Redemption 2

GTA online players received an email from vanderlinde@eyefind.com on their in-game phones when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out of. The email address is a reference to Arthur’s mentor and head of RDR2of the gang, Dutch van der Linde. The email sent players on a quest to find lost treasure. At the end of the quest, the player receives a double action revolver which can also be found in RDR2. The fact that the weapon exists in both games hints at the connection between them, and this GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2 take place in the same universe. The name of the email helps cement this theory as it alludes to the famous outlaw’s possible ancestor potentially living in Los Santos. Even if they do not make a physical appearance, it could be that this reference is developed in GTA 6.

The revolver belonging to the serial killer from RDR2 is also in GTA Online

Lowry Revolver Online Red Dead

There are many curious encounters with strange men in Red Dead Redemption but players will no doubt remember the side quest to follow Edmund Lowry. The disturbing man has many weapons, but a notable gun belonging to him can be found in both red dead online and GTA online. However, pistols aren’t the only weapons to be found in both games. A stone ax can be located in RDR2 while in GTA a similar weapon is found by handing over five bounty hunting targets. It could just be Rockstar reusing a quest line and weapons, but that reference seems a bit more deliberate.

RDR protagonist John Marston is referenced in GTA 5

Weapons aren’t the only items that lend credibility to the theory that Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto coexist in the same universe. In Franklin’s house, on a shelf in his bedroom, is a blue book titled Red Dead by J. Marston. This could be a reference and connection to RDR’s Jack Marston existing in the GTA universe, as Jack liked to write both in the first Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Throughout both Red Dead Redemption games, players are treated to quests and dialogue about John’s son Jack’s passion for reading and writing. He even declares that he wishes to become a writer. If this GTA The easter egg is something to do, Jack eventually became a writer and published a book about his father’s redemption, which would mean that both franchises exist in the same continuity.

RDR2’s Time Traveler Hints at GTA 5’s Epsilon Program

GTA Red Dead Redemption 2 Time Travel

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players can encounter a character called Francis during a side mission. Once they have finished what he asks of them, they can return to the cabin where they originally met. There, the player will meet a woman carrying a child with the same birthmark and red hair as Francis. As Arthur or John, players can find drawings covering the walls that suggest Francis is a time traveler who has returned from the 1920s.

But it’s more than just an Easter egg with a sci-fi twist – Francis actually connects GTA 5 with RDR2 through time travel, and it’s all tied into the Epsilon program. In GTA there is a cult group, the Epsilon program, Michael can even join them and players can interact with them on their web pages. They revere Kraff, who is portrayed as a bald man with a scar on his face similar to Francis’s. Returning to the pictures on the walls of Red Dead Redemption 2, one of which includes a bald man with a scar on his face. Cultists believe that any man with a scar on his face is a descendant of Kraff. It looks like Rockstar is hinting that Francis would be involved in some way, especially since the color of his clothing matches that of the traditional cultist attire.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA have similar UFOs

Red Dead Redemption 2 Moved Mt. Shann UFO Easter Eggs

A UFO appears in both GTA 5 and RDR2, which means that there is alien life in both games. But does the link to extraterrestrial life lend support to games that exist in a universe? There may be an answer to this question in a closer examination of UFOs.

Both craft have a similar shape, light display, and color, which adds even more weight to the idea that they belong to the same alien race. It could even be that the appearances are of the same UFO in both games. Rockstar may have just decided to reuse a model for the UFO, but the effort put into the details of both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 would suggest that is not the case.

Madame Nazar appears as a fortune-telling machine in GTA Online

Red Dead Online Madame Nazar

RDR2 online features the character Madame Nazar. She is a traveling collector who, when the player interacts with her, appears to have psychic abilities. In GTA onlinea fortune-telling machine called Nazar has a wife who looks almost exactly like the same character from red dead online. The bond between the two characters is only reinforced when the machine says it sees a strange man with a top hat, which seems to be an obvious reference to the strange man of the two. Red Dead Redemption and its follow-up. Was Madame Nazar a psychic and somehow gained enough fame that a fortune-telling machine was named after her? It’s possible, but it confirms another connection between the worlds.

Red Dead Redemption and GTA seem to share a universe

Some would reject the theory that Red Dead Redemption and GTA share a universe. One of the reasons for this is the fact that the cities of GTA are modeled after real-life counterparts but have changed names, with Liberty City being based in New York. However, there is a dialogue in the GTA games that mention real-life states and cities, meaning they exist somewhere. This would mean that the universe can still be connected even if GTAthe towns of are not mentioned in RDR.

By all accounts, it looks like Rockstar’s two biggest franchises actually share a universe. Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto are related and connect to each other through quests, characters and many other details. It remains to be seen whether these links will be strengthened in GTA 6but it would be interesting to see some sort of crossover further down the line.
