Netflix movies to watch for Father’s Day 2022

The Adam Project (2022)

The Adam Project is the perfect movie to watch for Father’s Day. The sci-fi film was directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay co-written by Jonathan Tropper, TS Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin. The story follows a time-traveling fighter pilot who accidentally returns to the year 2022 and enlists the help of his 12-year-old child to go on a mission to save the future. But to complete his mission to save the world, the time-traveling pilot must also team up with his late father, who has more information.

Ryan Reynolds stars as time-traveling pilot Adam Reed, and Walker Scobell plays young Adam Reed. The rest of the cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener and Zoe Saldaña. Although the film is about time travel, seeing the relationship between elder and young Adam Reed and their father was very touching to watch. I think a lot of people will relate to the Reed family dynamic. So be sure to add The Adam Project on your watchlist for Father’s Day ASAP!

Father of the Year (2018)

father of the year may have come out in 2018, but it’s definitely one of those movies you can always go back and re-watch, and what better time than Father’s Day. The comedy film stars David Spade as a dimwitted, reckless unemployed man named Wayne who ends up getting his son Ben in trouble by taking a bet too seriously. It all starts when Ben and his best friend Larry make a bet that their dads would be able to beat each other in a fight. What was supposed to be a dumb bet turns serious when Wayne shows up at Larry’s dad’s doorstep, ready to fight. Due to Wayne’s reckless actions, Ben loses his job and relationships are ruined.

If you’re looking for something funny and lighthearted to watch with your dad, father of the year should definitely be on your watch list for the night.

Fatherhood (2021)

Paternity is a drama film directed by Paul Weitz from a screenplay written by Weitz and Dana Stevens. It’s a film adaptation of a memoir titled Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthieu Logelin. The story follows a widowed father named Matthew who struggles with grief and how to raise his daughter after the unexpected death of his wife. Kevin Hart plays the lead role and has received praise for his performance. The rest of the wonderful cast includes Melody Hurd, Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, Frankie R. Faison and Paul Reiser. This film is more serious, so we recommend saving it for the last film of the evening.

Yes day (2021)

yes day is the perfect movie to watch for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day! The story follows parents, Allison and Carlos, who decide to give their children a day where they can make the rules. For 24 hours, parents have to say “yes” to their children’s craziest requests. Obviously, giving kids permission to do whatever they want can only end one way: total chaos. Jennifer Garner and Édgar Ramírez portray Allison and Carlos, respectively. Jenna Ortega, Julian Lerner and Everly Carganilla play Allison and Carlos’ children. We highly recommend watching yes day with your dad on Father’s Day. I promise you he will laugh throughout the film.

Stampede (2022)

Hustle premiered on Netflix on June 3, and it’s clearly doing well on the streamer. As of June 15, it has been ranked No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list. The sports drama stars Adam Sandler as an unlucky basketball scout named Stanley who discovers a talented street ball player in Spain. Hoping to return to the NBA, Stanley ends up bringing the basketball player to the United States without his team’s approval.

Even though the film primarily focuses on Stanley and his attempt to revive his career, viewers can also see the dynamic with his daughter, Alex. Due to his job, Stanley barely spends time with his daughter and has missed many of her birthdays. Still, Stanley does his best to maintain a good relationship with his daughter by making up for lost time when he can. We give Hustle a 10/10 and suggest this is one of the first movies you watch on Father’s Day.
